Swazi/Ray Mears AEGIS Tahr XP Anorak

Ray Mears has worn his Swazi Tahr Anorak for many years now, in some of the world’s most extreme locations. Thanks to the unfaltering wet-weather protection it provides, the Tahr has undoubtedly become Ray’s favourite item of clothing. In 2013, Swazi introduced this, the Ray Mears Tahr XP – a new and improved version of their legendary Tahr Anorak. It features a number of small but crucial changes from the original; most notably the addition of a much-requested hand-warmer pocket. Made in New Zealand from their newly-developed AEGIS fabric, and produced in Swazi’s classic Tussock Green colour, the Tahr XP is an ideal outer layer for activities like stalking, fishing, canoeing, hunting, hill-walking and general outdoor wear.

A windproof, waterproof and breathable membrane, AEGIS is in fact the most breathable fabric ever incorporated into Swazi garments. The three-layered fabric provides absolute protection from rain, snow and wind, and has been proven in independent tests to be every bit as waterproof and windproof as their old fabrics. What these tests also showed was enhanced breathability, a factor so important in any waterproof garment. As with the original Tahr, the Tahr XP remains soft, light, incredibly quiet and unbelievably comfortable.

The Tahr XP also features Swazi’s famed hood design, offering excellent peripheral vision while keeping wind and rain at bay. The inner conforms to the contours of your face, while the outer protrudes into an adjustable peak, stiffened with a durable liner and concealed wire-lined frame.
